Early Modern Europe

In 1494, Christopher Columbus wrote a letter to the King and Queen of Spain discussing  the newly discovered lands trade and colonization. He was under the impression that he had sailed to Asia, when it was actually the caribbean. He uncovered gold and spices, along with other useful resources. He explained the positive aspects to a few towns being established in the island of Espanola, and that the settlers could trade with the island nearby. It seems that Columbus was extremely organized, as he wished for towns with mayors, churches, priests, and more- for a positive impact on the people living there and around. When he explained how those who find gold would have reported records and a license, making it more fair for everyone. Columbus's letter on the first voyage - Wikipedia
